The provisional contex/vantage point is itself a space with the capacity for an altered experience of the overall publishing output. This reader is an occasion to look at difference and repetition as they relate to our plant program as well as ideas surrounding the bootleg. The title comes from an episode of Seinfeld where the character Elaine discovers an uncanny likeness of herself in a shop window in the form of a mannequin. It also refers to the American artist Sturtevant, who was known for her practice and resulting works which engaged with existing artworks to 'trigger thinking' about the underlying conceptual structure of art.

Ass Kickers United was a seedline that Doc D released back in 2015. It was a cross of a Zamaldelica x Sterling Skunk mother and a Headbanger father. We were able to grow out some of these but only a small number and it stirred the imagination - "What would this hybrid be like if we had at a larger pool, if the parents were slightly different or if in the repetition of it's own memory, something is misplaced or redoubled?

Intentional "remakes" and restagings within art are something that we are deeply interested in which comes from our background in printing, photography and reproduction. Comparison and the search for distinction seem to come naturally to humans. There is a curious relationship between the recombination of genes and their expression with the epi-genetic factors of time and place bumping up against the expectations of the grower or smoker. By calling it the bootleg we avoid any renaming controversy and/or confusion while acknowledging that it will never be (and isn't meant to be) the same exact combination as the "original" or "model" version. We can see this as an expression of the dynamic between interiority and the exterior surface, between the coordinates of axial convergence meeting once again or a bootleg.

A technical recreation this is not. It's an exercise in letting go, letting intuition guide and seeing what happens. The female Zamaldelica / Sterling Skunk is a powerhouse of vigor and flexible branching. The male is from a killer line of Black Triangle x AJ Sour diesel we made that was crossed to a very clear Tom Hill North Indian male which allowed the BT AJ character to shine. These are best suited for outdoors. Flowering time is 12 weeks on average. Available late Fall 2025.

Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze or SSSDH as it's known is a great line that has yielded some really far out expressions. People who are familiar with it in America usually are because of a cutting that's survived known as The Shire. We were gifted an interesting cutting of SSSDH that is NOT The Shire, nor is it the OJD cut. It grows long running foxtail flowers and smokes like a trickster - a creeping, fun ripper of substantial potency. After sampling the flower we made S1s while working on a repro project in the style of a bootleg.

On a practical level, the goal with this project was to bring this particular SSSDH cutting into seed form via its inherent lineage for something that is both recognizable and extraordinary. The way we've done it yields a line that is 50% original SSSDH but with a fresh introduction of 25% Original Diesel and 25% Super Silver Haze. The flowering time is 10-12 weeks on average.

There is a test plot that during certain summers gets a hose and timer set up so that it can receive water regularly. It doesn't get tended other than to start seeds in the spring and return in the fall. These seeds are a result of our selections meeting this summer's combinations and conditions.

We call our Ghost Og x Masterkush cross GMK. It's currently at IC1 and a small number are available for testing while we work on IC2. It was a core breeding tool in our early BLD work. It comes from a line of Dutch Masterkush we selectively increased from 2001-2008 to F4 and the "Ghost" OGK cut. GMK has a soft talc / perfume & lime leaf / incense nose and a relaxing mellow body effect.

During the process of inbreeding the line, we're releasing a small number of the in-cross generations. This step uses a half dozen select GMK S1s for the female side and a select GMK x Hindu Kush male. The Hindu Kush used here is Indian Landrace Exchange's narrow leaf expression f3. They should flower for 10 weeks.

While working with some old and new world Kush types (Hindu Kush sourced in situ and OGK respectively), we were able to try out the infamous Steve Murphy Afghan reproduced by AG Seed Co. The S.M. Afghan were too curious to not incorporate into the mix. We see them as an exciting link in the broad leaf timeline.

We selected two females from our Steve Murphy Afghan x (GMK x Hindu Kush) line. These were pollinated by an outstanding male for a full sib f2. Expect compact plants with velvet like resin and a range of smells from the GMK lime perfume to wet forest floor. They should flower for 8-10 weeks.

This was a cross of two truly special Colombian lines that Snowhigh released years ago on 4/20. Both green and purple individuals are present within the population. The purple are faster flowering. The green ones tend to be citric pine while the purple are woody incense and spice. They all go roughly 16 weeks from seed. Easy to grow with minimal inputs. Positive, social effects. This f2 is something we look forward to seeing people grow out and enjoy - a year end gift for the community.

The title comes from a two person show by the artists Josephine Pryde and Michael Krebber who in turn borrowed the title from the Bauhaus School / Oscar Schlemmer's Stage Workshop performance. The "Dance in Metal" seemed appropriate considering that the Dutch Flowers line was named after their "metal-lit rooms" and warping creeper effects.

We have a treasured cut of Super Silver Haze that finishes in 75 days and cures to be quite cheesy. It performs great under hps. We've pollinated it with 3 Dutch Flowers Metal Haze males to make Metalltanz f1s.

So far in testing the plants are coming out 1:2:1 with a nice mix of parents and surprising density. Cold pine types tend to be the most pontent. Let these cure for a little longer and feel the effects stretch on out.

This little publication was made along side of our newest seed project, Metalltanz. The zine is an adaptation of A Garage and combines ekprastic writings that describe an encounter in the town of Shoshone, California as though it were a series of artworks. A free version of the text is available as a pdf here.

On the far western edge in a small town a rotating neon sphere is held aloft above the only garage in town. Its presence marks an isolated population. The approach is long. Looking out at the rerouting of past lines, at the inflecting horizon somewhere way out there within the ragged edge of a vanishing point is exhaustion. The roadway rises and falls under stars, a kind of weightless silver club country. The vehicle, like a glittering speeder flat and expanding stretches out on its long haul. The view, itself becoming increasingly anamorphic with the amplification of effect sets in motion an ongoing continuum grounded in mirage.

Artist Blinky Palermo made a series of paintings called Metal Pictures between 1973 and 1976. To the People of New York is part of that series. It consists of 15 parts and over 40 painted metal panels. He inscribed the back of each panel, "To the People of N.Y.C." According to the Dia press release, the work functions "as a total environment that necessitates an embodied perceptual experience."

It seemed fitting to name the AJ S1 in this way. We alwayed tagged sour plants with yellow tags and the Palermo paintings have such a strong cadmium yellow in them it felt right. All personalities aside, we love the AJ cut as a plant. It has a nice skuny aspect in addition to the mouth coating sour. Big stretchers!

We received some Staten Island Chem S1 seeds from Stoney shortly before he passed and grew out a dozen. They grew very consistently in most ways except for potency. We selected 2 based on smoke, flavor and growth and pollinated with the reversed AJ Sour Diesel cutting. The potency of the Staten Island S1 selections should match up well with AJ and maybe some mind-bending speed funk will come out. NNOOIIDDSS!!

For this iteration of Canal Zone, we've swapped the position of the parents - putting a select group of female Panama Red plants in with a reversed cutting of the AJ Sour Diesel. The best of these stayed bright green and has a white layer of resin over conical red haired flowers. It smelled like juicy fruit and had a stronger less introspective effect than the more grape, wet bark types. This is the mother of Canal zone (Part 2). We expect super effects on big vigorous plants. Outdoor prime time, indoors for the adventurous.

The title like with Canal Zone (Part 1) is a play on the Canal Street of New York City, the Panama Canal Zone and the infamous Richard Prince series that led to the legal case by Patrick Cariou over his book Yes, Rasta being the source of collaged material in the Canal Zone works. The books of the deposition by greg.org are a colorful look into Prince's thinking on the project and how it both unfolded and did not.

We almost didn't release this one because its Sour and OGK which seems pretty boring or at least...known. The seeds turned out well though and the tests have come out as solid plants that are right on that spectrum of citric, sour and gas.

The title for this cross pays homage to Isa Genzken. It duplicates the title for her 2006 book - I Love New York, Crazy City where she combined three collage books she made in New York in 1995-1996 into one delerious project.

The Apple Stretching is a song by our favorite Grace Jones about the big apple waking up and starting its day. It's a long funky B-side ramble over sounds of the cityscape. We have fond memories of getting fabulous light blue-green Blueberry from a delivery service in the lower east side in the late 90's that still stands out. It seemed like the right title for some blueberry f4 mixed into three different sours via ECSD, Stoney's sour and the AJ cutting.

Deep, dark, musky incense wood with a citric edge, Panama Red is an old school killer. Long lasting psychedelic NLD effects that creep up on you yet aren't too racy or unbridled. We chose to use a broader range of Panama Red plants than we typically use for selections (4 in total) because they each represented something special within this old BCO Panama line that we really cherish. We've blended seeds from the various mothers for the broadest range of expressions, but we're happy to provide seeds from specific individuals upon request. The Sunshine Daydream male leans toward the stretch indica Bubbashine side and lends extra color, a buttery coating of resin and a recombination of aromas and flavors ranging from mint to more savory culinary herbs, garlic butter and floral notes that should pair really well with those of the Panama. This f1 hybrid is something we're looking forward to seeing people grow out and enjoy - a free year end gift for the community.

We love the TV series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and chose to repurpose the title for this cross. We're also using Doc D's far out "It's Always Sunny" inspired Ass Kickers United (Zamaldelica / RKS x Headbanger) in some skunky r&d projects.

We made Pipsi because early on we wanted to create a Beer line. The smell of sour beer is familiar and comes up sometimes around cannabis especially as it ages and oxidizes, plus theres the story about our family friend above that we always wanted to work in somewhere. Similarly, the idea was to make a kind of commercialized line - a generic beer not a name brand beer or too specific type, just BEER. PIPSI helped reenforce that mindset.

Pipsi built on itself each step of the way based on what we had on hand as that's usually a good marker of whatever is working at a given moment. The idea with it was also to create a line that had a blend of cannabinoids so that we could work them in different directions, kind of fading back and forth between for tailored effects from high test to chill out.

The AJ x Tk / Lt female selection in this cross has a really superb effect. It has a mood brightening aspect that allows for a turned up reality while increased smoking leads to a heaviness you may want to avoid or slide into. Tk / Lt f1 from Doc D using the old Dutch Flowers Lemon Thai and Tk cut. This cross has an island energy to it in our opinion.

Terry T is a 20:1 cbd rich type III plant with minimal thc. It has a ripe mango smell in flower that gives way to dried fruit and hops when cured. It contains a lot of Myrcene and is quite abundant in terpenes in general. Terry's father and Pipsi's grandfather are the same plant. We've seen this result in a large number of the population being cbd rich plants with an improved resin type.

Our annual end of year pollination gift puts to use a very beautiful Panama Red Cbd male from Coastal Seeds work. The Panama Red Cbd is a favorite line of ours with relaxing but upbeat effects and an old school tobacco-like smoke. The seeds from the different mother plants (AJ's Sour Diesel, Black Domina, Giesel, GMO and Super Silver Haze) have been blended for a grab bag vibe. There should be a nice range within these.

This book is a collection of stills from a CNN report done in the 90's on the whereabouts of the reclusive author Thomas Pynchon. It is alleged that Pynchon himself makes an appearance in the broadcast footage.

Diesel, Our Diesel, Sour Diesel. I grew up traveling in and out of the city growing up throughout the 80's and 90's and eventually moved there in 1999. Later on the west coast, I grew a cut known as "Super Sour Diesel" that grew chunky colas and had a great sour nose with a little extra chem. This first Noids (sour) project is devoted to the SSD cut. A purple masterkush f4 was used for the backcrossing.

Our choice juicy fruit Panama Red cut was pollinted by the Super Sour Diesel x purple Masterkush male.

The Super Sour Diesel cut pollinated by our 2016 Panama Red repro male. These offer the best effects we've sampled out of the garden so far, hands down. A rip roaring good time.

Annapurna Upper Chuile 2021 Reproduction. This is a reproduction of seeds from Bodhi's 2008 collection in the Annapurna National Forest, Nepal. These were the "Upper Chuile" and were released under his Nierika Seed Trust label. These seeds were selected from a single farmed plant growing at 2500 meters that was described as a tall mountain sativa with a spicy aroma. We grew out 20 of these and later selected 2 males and 2 females for a year end open pollination. These plants represented the population well. They retain some variation while erring on the side of usefulness, they range from long flowering loose airy but extremely aromatic plants to darker broadleafed plants with denser cone like flowers. The flowering time is from 12-16 weeks. They are vigorous and want to get huge thus recommended for an outdoor garden. We found them to have a consistent cold pine / mint / menthol type of nose. The effect is a social, uplifting vibe with a clear buzz and a light come down, mellow.
